Our college students not only deliver the Recesspreneurs curriculum, but also form crucial bonds with their students. College students are the perfect age to offer wisdom and support while maintaining relatability.
Students learn the crucial life skills of the entrepreneurial mentality. Skills such as leadership, goal-setting, personal finance and public speaking are honed.
Students go from idea generation all the way to the launch and growth stage, learning critical skills such as selling, reshaping opportunities and marketing strategies.
For most individuals of low-income backgrounds, they lack a healthy support system. Students not only engage in bonding activities with college student mentors but also exercises which foster the creation of a healthy support system within their very own communities.
Recesspreneurs gave me the ability to do things I never thought I was capable of. Not only did I learn the ropes of becoming an entrepreneur, but I was taught how to speak to people and tools that could lead me to success in nearly any situation. Recesspreneurs isn’t about creating a company, it’s about building opportunities that otherwise wouldn’t have been available.
Mentoring the kids of Recesspreneurs has been a life changing experience. Seeing the impact that this program has made on their lives makes my heart smile. The kids are super smart, driven, and so full of life. They are truly an inspiration.
I have very much enjoyed my experience in the mentoring program. It helped to have someone to talk to who was actually going to listen and give feedback. It’s also nice to have someone who can give you tips about the future in college life. I adore my mentor.
